The Building Department's responsibilities include the protection of the health, safety and welfare of Goshen residents through the enforcement of state and local laws, by-laws and regulations.
The Department issues permits for all types of construction including all public and private buildings. They also issue permits for additions and alterations of buildings, for installations of pools, sheds, garages and other such improvements to properties.
The Building Inspector is required to perform periodic inspections for those businesses and buildings that are required to obtain a Certificate of Inspection.
The Building Inspector also serves as the Town's Zoning Enforcement Officer. To report violations of zoning laws, by-laws, and regulations, send a written complaint to the Building Inspector at the address below.
Copies of the Zoning By-Laws can be found here and are also available from the Town Clerk for a nominal charge.
Applications for permits are listed below or can be picked up at the Town Office Building foyer Monday through Thursday, 10AM to 2 PM. Completed applications should be mailed to the address in the sidebar.
Messages received Monday through Friday by 1PM will be responded to by 5PM.
