The goal of the proposed Goshen Senior Housing Project is to construct 10 new units of affordable rental housing for Goshen seniors, to be located near the center of town. This will allow Goshen seniors, particularly those who can no longer – physically or financially – maintain themselves in their homes, to remain in their community. Plans for this project target senior households having incomes of less than 80% of the area median income, which currently is $41,400, significantly lower than the CPA-allowed limit. The project meets the goals of the Goshen CPA in that it will increase affordable housing options for low and moderate income seniors; provide housing in keeping with the design, setting and materials in the surrounding community; promote long-term sustainability of affordable housing; and use CPA funds to leverage other funding.
